Optical Sensors, System Characterization & Validation Hardware Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA (Some REMOTE)

Summary Design, develop, and launch next-generation light-sensing technologies. Bring devices to life and enable them to interact with users and the environment in ways never imagined before. The light sensing team integrates optical sensors across a variety of consumer electronics products. Strong experience with optics, optical system design, and detectors is required. Key Responsibilities bull Design and execution of system integration, test, and validation strategies for manufacturing new optical sensors. bull Ability to work in Lab environment, doing bench characterization and working with lasers, sensors and color display lasers bull Experience with electrical signals, processes and measurements. bull Failure mode analysis, root-cause diagnosis, and system-level problem solving bull Data Collections and Processing bull Product simulationanalysis using a variety of software tools to support engineering validation and characterization bull Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Process Engineering to deliver state-of-the-art sensing solutions bull Analyze data to draw conclusions, enhance product designmanufacturability, and drive FA bull Experience with Class 4 Laser Lab would be highly desired.

Required

Skillsets bull Strong background in optics, optical sensors, and optical measurements bull Strong scripting in Python and Matlab (C would be a plus) bull Lab equipment control, data collection, and data analysis bull Experience with optical lab equipment (Power meters, spectrometers, camerasdetectors, oscilloscopes, optical tables, etc.) bull Experience supporting volume manufacturing of optical systems is a plus (test, validation, FA, etc) bull Degree in Optics, Physics or equivalent. B.S.M.S. and industry experience, or Ph. D. bull Excellent written and verbal communication skills solid teamwork and leadership skills bull Experience with ray-tracing or FDTD software is plus.
