Sr. Cost Accountant

Point Security LLC ('Guide.
Point') is to setup, maintain, invoice and close all FFP, contract and T&M projects. Cost reports comparing actual costs to-date vs. estimated costs as well as forecasted costs are continuously reviewed. Reporting is critical to keeping the project manager and management aware of each project's progress as well as identifying when cost overruns will lead to reduced profitability. This position will report to and support the Direct of Finance
- Services Operations to ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 for all company professional services revenue streams. Sr. Cost Accountants will oversee and analyze project related cost expenditures and purchases within the organization to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Roles and Responsibilities.
Setup new projects and invoice the customer based on the Statement of WorkAssist with processes and workflows related to project accounting in compliance with ASC 606 while focusing on decreasing the close cycle and increasing automation.
Perform month-end accounting activities such as closeout of completed customer projects, contracts and T&M's by ensuring all material, labor and outside service costs are recorded accurately to the general ledger.
Analyze variances (actual vs estimates) and coordinate activities with the Director of Finance in support of timely issuance of financial statements.
Establish and maintain customer projects, contracts and T&M's in the ERP including project estimates and change order information utilizing data from the quote, sales order, purchase orders and project manager updates.
Create and distribute detailed job cost reports to project managers which include actual and estimated costs to-date as well as projections to complete.
Review project milestone and completion dates to facilitate timely and accurate progress and final billing to customers.
Develop, maintain and improve processes and controls associated to cost accounting best practices.
Assist with project review meetings with operations teams to ensure accuracy of project cost, billing and revenues.
Represent accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs and improve company profitability.
Work with leadership as needed on ad hoc reports as well as help reconcile financial reports between various systems such as NetSuite, Sales.
Force and Open AirOther duties as assigned Desired Skills and Experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required, or equivalent in work experience3-6 years demonstrated experience working in cost accounting, reporting, and cross team collaboration with a services organization. Job cost experience a plus.
Excellent communication, analytical and reasoning skills with a high confidence in stating professional opinions required.
Knowledge of ERP and accounting systems; experience with NetSuite ERP, Sales.
Force and OpenAir experience is highly desirable.
Process design and development experience preferred.
Attention to detail is a must.
Possesses the ability to self-manage and adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected shifts in priorities while maintaining focus and productivity in a fast-paced environment.
