We aim to be at the center of our members' financial lives, and to help every member Get Their Money Right. With offices across the US, we offer the excitement of a rapidly growing startup with the stability of a seasoned management team and some of the best talent around. As an employer, we strive to hire employees who are committed to both our company's mission and our desire to build the best culture in the world. If you are driven, passionate about what you do, and excited about the SoFi mission, we would love to hear from you.

The role:

The Communications Engagement team is responsible for multiple platforms that enable our core products and services to communicate to our SoFi members via email, push and SMS notifications.

On our team you will be implementing new functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, testing, deploying, monitoring and supporting mission critical systems. You'll face and solve a wide range of challenges: technical, product, and operational, shaping your personal growth and career along the way, as well as helping mold and grow the junior members of the team.

What you'll do:

We're looking for a senior back-end or full-stack engineer who is comfortable:

  • Architecting, designing, and delivering scalable highly-available services and/or creating responsive, performant, and maintainable java apps

  • Identifying, architecting, and owning technical solutions for product requirements and user stories

  • Participating heavily in code and design reviews

  • Collaborating and representing engineering with outside stakeholders in product marketing, operations, business, legal, and compliance

  • Working in a fast-moving, highly-collaborative environment across multiple offices

  • Mentoring more junior members of the team and helping foster a learning environment within the team

  • Generating ideas for new initiatives and technologies

  • Becoming domain experts within the Communications domain.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience

  • 5+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stack.

  • Our core stack is Java / Spring / PostgreSQL. Expertise with any modern Java frameworks, REST APIs and relational databases.

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done

  • Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion

  • Affinity for solving problems and diving deep into the details

  • Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies as well as software testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end

Nice to have:

  • Full-stack engineering experience, or willingness to expand your skills across our entire stack

  • Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, cloud infrastructure and CI/CD

  • Experience with Marketing tools such as Braze or Redpoint

  • Fintech/finance experience

Why you'll love working here:

  • Competitive salary packages and bonuses

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits

  • Generous vacation and holidays

  • Paid parental leave for eligible employees

  • 401(k) and education on retirement planning

  • Tuition reimbursement on approved programs

  • Monthly contribution up to $200 to help you pay off your student loans

  • Great health & well-being benefits including: telehealth parental support, subsidized gym program

  • Employer paid lunch program (except for remote employees)

  • Fully stocked kitchen (snacks and drinks)
