Telemetry Data Platform Infrastructure Services group is seeking an Engineering Manager with a passion for people management, growing strong teams, and shipping software that delights customers. Our group's goal is to provide New Relic engineers a platform for developing, shipping, and operating reliable software at speed and scale -- built on reusable services, standards, and practices. Our Engineering Managers are a select group of leader-coaches who shape the solutions we bring to market and foster an inclusive environment that brings out the best in people. You'll lead a team of engineers that operate and scale load balancers and DNS infrastructure with software automation.
What You'll DoLead with a DevOps approach - we build and maintain our software, including taking turns being on-call, and tailoring our on-call alert policies to prevent pager-fatigue.
Drive the team roadmap, striking a balance between feature-forward work, maintaining a reliable platform, and paying off technical debt.
Develop and iterate on processes and practices that keep your team executing efficiently.
Help the team maintain a highly reliable Infrastructure that powers New Relic productsOur teams are based out of Portland, San Francisco, and Barcelona offices as well as a growing number of remote employees. We are excited to also consider a remote Engineering Manager who can work Pacific time zone hours out of their home office and has shown success leading a team remotely. Must-have: Experience in a technical leadership role, leading operationally-focused teams that applies software engineering practices to automate their infrastructure operations like load balancing, DNSYou value high iteration speed, low cycle times, a focus on the actual problems we're solving for our customers, good communication, collaboration, and improving the people around us. You are willing to adapt your management style. We're working in a highly changing environment, and have a particular process you follow isn't going to work. You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity, very customer-centric, and able to think big. You really enjoy change. We're a growing company, and that means things change a lot here. You receive a lot of support, but you will see the job evolve every six months, so you should flourish in this kind of environment. Nice-to-have: Experience with load balancing solutions like F5, DNS infrastructure, Networking.
Experience operating in a public cloud.
Experience with cloud transformation and/or hybrid cloud.
