Instructional Designer

ELS is hiring for the position of Instructional Designer in Chicago, Illinois.
What you'll do:
ELS is currently seeking an Instructional Designer who excels in a fast-paced, results-oriented, and highly collaborative environment to join our team. As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing compelling and effective learning solutions using sound instructional design methodology and applied adult learning theories. This role will begin focusing on designing safety courses and eventually transition to supporting the entire content library.
Your job will include:

- Applying expert-level knowledge of adult learning theories to enhance learning and retention
- Using instructional design methodology to develop e-learning courses, training guides, job aids, print and multi-media materials for instructor-led training in both live and virtual environments
- Producing high quality learning content, including course design documents, course outlines, videos, scripts, interactive exercises, and assessments
- Collaborating with subject matter experts throughout the company to analyze training needs and define learning objectives
- Designing and developing safety and compliance courses that adhere to all local and federal regulations and guidelines
- Creating storyboards/scripts and production-ready content for training videos, along with leading the video production
- Coordinating with LMS administrator for training launch
- Staying current on emerging learning trends, including innovative best practices, technologies, capabilities and methodologies in the design and development of learning solutions

Experience

& skills you need:

- 5 years of work experience in an instructional design role with advanced knowledge of instructional design tools and methodologies
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices related to learning and development, training, and adult learning theories
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development using either the ADDIE, SAM, or agile methods
- Proficient with Articulate 360
- Strong organization, time management, and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office application Communication and Collaboration:

- Expresses ideas clearly and succinctly in all interactions
- Act with a results-orientation and a naturally collaborative approach
- Demonstrate strong personal initiative, willingness to visit our properties, roll up sleeves, and do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Listen effectively to internal customer needs and opportunities
- Able to facilitate virtual and live classroom sessions with participants Business Orientation:

- College degree or commensurate industry experience required
- Once environments allow, able and willing to travel for up to a week at a time averaging 20-25% over the course of a year Bonus

Skills



- Experience with course development and/or multimedia tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Audacity, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

- Prior experience using Office 365, including Teams and Share.
